Portsmouth Citizens' Alliance

For city government that should be efficient, ethical and farsighted

The Portsmouth Citizen’s Alliance enthusiastically recommends Rick Becksted, Esther Kennedy, Petra Huda, Peter Whelan, Paige Trace, and Greg Mahanna for city council.

This group of candidates firmly supports our platform and would bring to Portsmouth city government a needed blend of experience, skills and sound priorities.

Note that we have endorsed only six candidates but there are nine seats on the city council. We chose these six because we trust them to keep their commitments to the public. Other candidates may well make fine city councilors, but a new majority on the city council consisting of Becksted, Huda, Kennedy, Trace, Whelan, and Mahanna will ensure that the people of Portsmouth are well served.

Why vote for this slate of candidates?

  • They have guided us through an unprecedented health crisis.
  • They saved dozens of Portsmouth businesses from closing.
  • They passed the first flat budget in two decades, for an average budget increase of 1.9% per year over two years. (the previous City Council passed annual budget increases averaging 4.1% every year – or double the rate of inflation – for four years).

Vote to reelect the following City Councilors:

Rick Becksted

Esther Kennedy

Petra Huda

Paige Trace

Peter Whelan

and vote for newcomer

Greg Mahanna

Reminder! You are not required to vote for nine candidates if you don’t want to. You can vote for only one candidate, or none, or any number in between.

All of the above named candidates have been endorsed by the Portsmouth Citizens Alliance and the Association of Portsmouth Taxpayers
